There are those times in life when it's just better to not speak to soon. Like when you're first pregnant for example. Usually people wait until they are a good 10-12 weeks along before breaking the big news, just to make sure that you won't have to tell everyone again if something doesn't go right. Well, here I am, eating my words.
Jeff was offered that job at CE&MT. He went on a ride along with them last week. They set him up so he would be starting Monday. The only thing we were waiting for was the official offer they were sending over email. We finally got it last Friday and were so excited to see what they were going to offer. The excitement ended the first paragraph in to the offer. The salary amount they offered was insulting to say the least. There was no way we would be able to afford our family and house with the amount. He tried to counter offer, but they are holding strong to the first. The thing that is so annoying is, during his interviews they asked him what his salary expectations were. The amount he told them was taking at least a $5.00 an hour pay cut from where we were before he left team. We understand that we are going to have to take a cut. But they said nothing to the fact that he would not make even close to the pay he talked about in his interview. You would think that instead of making him think that it was an acceptable wage, and wasting his time with the half day of ride alongs and meetings, they would have just said that they do not start their employee's above such and such amount. It would have saved everybody a lot of time and a lot of frustration.
We've taken a few days to really think about it to make sure we are making the right decision. But the reality is, we just can't live like that. At the wage they offered, it would take a good 10 years or more to get to where were were with Team. We just can't do it.
So here we are again. In the same boat we were in. Going on 8 weeks now. It's depressing and discouraging, but we believe that we will be blessed with a great job one of these days and hopefully end this enormous trial that we have been going through.

I'm so sorry Keri. That must be very frustrating. Unfortunately I think it is just the way some companies are. We've had a few job offers like that in the past AFTER Niels wasted time on a phone interview and then 1-2 more trips flying somewhere in person even when his expectations were mad every clear. Very frustrating! I hope Jeff finds something better soon.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. It must be very frustrating for you guys. I hope something will turn up just as quickly as this last one came but with better benefits!
